Raksha Bandhan Messages, Essay In Hindi And English 2016- Raksha means "to tie or knot of protection" means. This is an ancient Hindu religious festival that celebrates love and duty between the brothers and their sisters. Sister tie rakhi to her brother, in return, the brother promised to take care and protect her. The festival is also an occasion to celebrate brother-sister like family ties between cousins or distant family members, sometimes between biologically unrelated men and women. To many, the festival transcends biological family, brings together men and women across religions, diverse ethnic groups and ritually emphasizes harmony and love. It is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Śrāvaṇa, and typically falls in August every year.

Raksha Bandhan is now considered as a day to celebrate the sacred relation of a brother and a sister. Yet there have been examples in history where in rakhi has just been a raksha or protection. It could be tied by wife, a daughter or mother. The Rishis tied rakhi to the people who came seeking their blessings. The sages tied the sacred thread to themselves to safe guard them from the evil. It is by all means the 'Papa Todak, Punya Pradayak Parva' or the day that bestows boons and end all sins as it is mentioned in the scriptures.

Rakhi is a sacred thread embellished with sister's love and affection for her brother. On the day of Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie rakhi on the wrists of their brothers and express their love to them. After receiving the rakhi from a sister, a brother sincerely takes the responsibility of protecting her sister. In Indian tradition, the frangible thread of rakhi is considered even stronger than an iron chain as it strongly binds brothers and sisters in the circumference of mutual love and trust.
Any Indian festival seems to be incomplete without the traditional Indian festivities, such as gathering, celebrations, exchange of sweets and gifts, lots of noise, singing, and dancing. Festivals are the celebration of togetherness as being as a united family and the festival "Raksha Bandhan" is not an exception of this.
The love and self-actuation towards a novel cause between a brother and his sister is the theme of this great festivals. It is a festival that is mainly celebrated by the people of Northern and Western part of India, but people from other parts also celebrate this festival with the same alacrity. Although, the mode of celebration may differ from region to region, but the central theme of this great festival remains same.
As far as the traditions and rituals are concerned, sisters prepare the "pooja thali" with diyas, roli, chawal, and rakhis. They worship the goddesses, ties rakhis on the wrists of their brother(s), and wishes for their good being. On the other hand, the brothers acknowledge their love with a promise that they will remain by their sisters' side and protect them from every fall and down throughout the life. Brothers also give token gifts to their sisters.
From the ancient period of time, this festival has been celebrated in the same manner and tradition. As the lifestyle of people has been changing with passing time, therefore, today, this festival is being celebrated elaborately. This day fosters an undying and divine relationship among the siblings. Far off physical location may sometime bring an abstract feeling among the siblings, and this auspicious day provides a link to bring them together. The joyous meeting, the rare family get- together, the erstwhile feeling of brotherhood and sisterhood call for a massive celebration.
The sisters tie a sacred thread of love to their brothers amongst chanting of mantras, put roll and rice on their forehead and pray for their well-being. Sisters bestow their brothers with gifts and blessings. Brother also wishes them a good life and pledge to take care of them. Brothers give their sisters return gifts. The gift is the acknowledgment of his love for his sister, reminder of their togetherness and a symbol of his pledge. There are several historical pieces of evidence, which remind us of the significance of this festival and every time, this festival emphasizes the same values which have been mingled along with the festival.
Well, that is a kind of an end to the rituals but the celebrations begin after that. For the parents, Raksha Bandhan festival is a mean of the family reunion. Tasty dishes, wonderful sweets etc, are cooked on this day. Family members exchange gifts with other well wishers and relatives and share their individual experiences of life with one another.

रक्षाबंधन सामाजिक, पौराणिक, धार्मिक तथा ऐतिहासिक भावना के धागे से बना एक ऐसा पवित्र बंधन जिसे जनमानस में रक्षाबंधन के नाम से सावन मास की पूर्णिमा को भारत में ही नही वरन् नेपाल तथा मॉरिशस में भी बहुत उल्लाससे मनाया जाता है। रक्षाबंधन अर्थात रक्षा की कामना लिए ऐसा बंधन जो पुरातन काल से इस सृष्टी पर विद्यमान है। इन्द्राणी का इन्द्र के लिए रक्षा कवच रूपी धागा या रानी कर्मवति द्वारा रक्षा का अधिकार लिए पवित्र बंधन का हुमायु को भेजा पैगाम और सम्पूर्ण भारत में बहन को रक्षा का वचन देता भाईयों का प्यार भरा उपहार है, रक्षाबंधन का त्योहार।प्राचीन काल से प्रसंग भले ही अलग-अलग हो परंतु प्रत्येक प्रसंग में रक्षा की ज्योति ही प्रज्वलित होती रही है। पुरातन काल में रक्षा की भावना का उद्देश्य लिए ब्राह्मण क्षत्रिय राजाओं को रक्षा सूत्र बांधते थे, जहाँ राजा और ज़मींदार जैसे शक्तिवान एवं धनवान लोग उन्हे सुरक्षा प्रदान करने के साथ जीवन उपयोगी वस्तुएं भी उपहार में दिया करते थे।हमारी पौराणिक मान्यता के अनुसार एक बार राजा इन्द्र पर दानवों ने हमला कर दिया जिसमें राजा इन्द्र की शक्ति कमजोर पङने लगी। तब इन्द्र की पत्नी इन्द्राणी जिनका शशिकला नाम था, उन्होने ईश्वर के समक्ष तपस्या तथा प्रार्थना की। इन्द्राणी की तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर ईश्वर ने शशिकला को एक रक्षा सूत्र दिया । इन्द्राणी ने उसे इन्द्र के दाहिने हाँथ में बाँध दिया,  इस पवित्र रक्षा सूत्र की वजह से इन्द्र को विजय प्राप्त होती है। जिस दिन ये रक्षासूत्र बांधा गया था उस दिन सावन मास की पूर्णिमा थी। संभवतः इसीलिए रक्षाबंधन का पर्व आज-तक सावन मास की पूर्णिमा को ही मनाया जाता है।
पौराणिक कथा का अगर जिक्र करें तो, रक्षाबंधन से जुङा एक और रोचक प्रसंग बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। एक बार राजा बली अपने यज्ञ तप की शक्ति से स्वर्ग पर  आक्रमण करके सभी देवताओं को परास्त कर देते हैं, तो इन्द्र सहित सभी देवता भगवान विष्णु की शरण में जाते हैं और राजा बली से अपनी रक्षा की प्रार्थना करते हैं। तब विष्णु जी वामन अवतार में ब्राह्मण के रूप में राजा बली से भिक्षा मांगने जाते हैं और तीन पग भूमि दान में माँगते हैं। राजा बली उन्हे भूमि देने का वचन देते हैं, तभी वामन रूपी विष्णु जी तीन पग में सारा आकाश, पाताल और धरती नापकर राजा बली को रसातल में भेज देते हैं। रसातल में राजा बली अपनी भक्ती से भगवान विष्णु को प्रसन्न करके उनसे वचन ले लेते हैं कि भगवान  विष्णु दिन-रात उनके सामने रहेगें। श्री विष्णु के वापस विष्णुलोक न आने पर परेशान लक्ष्मी जी को नारद जी सलाह देते हैं कि, आप राजा बली को भाई बनाकर उसको रक्षासूत्र बाँधिये। नारद जी की सलाह अनुसार माता लक्ष्मी बली को रक्षासूत्र बाँधती हैं और उपहार में भगवान विष्णु को माँगकर अपने साथ ले जाती हैं। ये संयोग ही है कि इस दिन भी सावन मास की पूर्णीमा थी। आज भी सभी धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों में यजमान को ब्राह्मण एक मंत्र पढकर रक्षासूत्र बाँधते हैं जिसका अर्थ होता है कि, “जिस रक्षा सूत्र से महान शक्तिशाली राजा बली को बाँधा गया था, उसी सूत्र से मैं आपको बाँध रहा हुँ, आप अपने वचन से कभी विचलित न होना।“
